Skyrita is a city located in the plains on the edge of a canyon. Their government already appears to be a well-stabled republic. Economically it is almost perfectly balanced, the rich give taxes willingly to the poor, which works the jobs to help the middle class, who answer to the rich. Being in the plains, they have numerous farms and crops imported in for them that they have promised liberty to if it is ever needed. They also are on the edge of the mountains so they have a couple coal mines and three gem minds, sapphire, ruby, and emerald. Each of the gem mines collect stones that are perfect for channeling magic through. Lumber is plentiful as a resource to them as well. They have a wonderful relationship with the merchants of Harborion Port, so economically they are the strongest of all the cities. Their crops consist of countless fruits and vegetables and plenty of live stock as well.
In the Drake Canyon, dragon like creatures live that act as mounts to the protective guard of the Skyrita. The rumor has it that they were once a breed of dragons until they allowed riders. Now they cannot speak, and do not have nearly the same size or form as the dragons do. They have to legs that almost immediately grow into their wings, so they appear more like giant lizard bats then dragons now. They also do not breath fire anymore. Their wing span doesn’t exceed much more than five to six yards so they are perfect for single riders.
Scientist and magicians work together to cure diseases early and create a plentiful crop for each harvest. It is a rather beautiful paradise.
The weakness of Skyrita is simple, in all their perfect economic strength and sociological beauty, they are optimistic and don’t well prepare themselves for the unexpected. The city itself is poorly equipped for any kind of attack, so one hundred miles away they have built their strong hold into the side of a mountain. Protection is all it can offer because “Skyrita has never needed nor ever will have an army†as the senators would say. Stable for now is the best way to put it. If an siege was ever conducted against their territory, they would have to evacuate all 30,000 men women and children to the strong hold known as The Center Stone 100 miles away. There they would have a vault of food and plenty of springs and wells for water, however if a blockade was created they would not have an easy time escaping The Center Stone nor getting messengers out. The only secondary escape route would be a secret narrow shepherd’s path that leads into the mountains and the forests beyond. If The Center Stone’s walls were ever breached, 90% of the citizens wouldn’t make it out of the strong hold alive and most of the rest would either day of starvation or be hunted down by wolves, bears, displacer beats or possibly the other army’s soldiers.
