Brief Character Back Story Written in Post Form (10-30 sentences) :
For now Riko Nox had the most of the power over Harborion Port, but he knew the tides could change at a moment's notice. He knew that financial power had a huge luck factor and it was foolish to think he was on top of it all.
He sat at his desk for the time viewing his company's numbers against the rival companies. The numbers were obviously still in his favor, for now only however.
"I only have the power as long as I have the money," he said to no one but out loud none the less. "And that won't last long if that stupid Queen's company out bid him with her new cannon weaponry, or the newly organized Wild Card Trading Company's steam vessel engineering brings in more coastal support at a third of the speed." He slammed his fits on the table. "Especially when they plan to create three more of those damn things within the next year! The Spaded Ace alone could outcast my entire over seas efforts by that time, but adding three more will destroy me!" He gathered himself and sighed. Then Riko Nox stood up and faced the window looking out onto the streets alone.
One of his vessels, The Santroina, was pulling up anchor to ship off over the seas. As it did so a cloud of hot smoke from The Spaded Ace got caught in its sails. Riko's eyes widened the steam and smoke lifted The Santroina into a quick jump out of the water. His heart raced as he saw the entirety of his flagship completely leave the water, only by a couple yards but it was still a dangerous hurl. If it landed wrong the ship could capsize and be lost. However, when contact with the sea was made again Riko Nox's reaction was thankful. The vessel glided back into the ocean with easy. No harm done.
He sighed in relief. Then, he had a wonderful thought.
He sat down at his table drawing a quick blue print down. He called in a messenger to bring in his finest engineer and the messenger did so. The engineer came in and Riko ushered him to look at the very rough plans. At first the engineer looked at his boss like he was crazy, but when Riko pointed out the specific reasoning for making the hot smoky air the engineer understood and looked wide eyed at the wonderful idea.
"I'll get working on it at once," he said. "This..this thing...what should we call it sir?"
"It has the characteristics of a balloon but with navegation ability," he said and shrugged. "How about after my Uncle, Captain Joseph Blimp, the finest sea captain there ever was. Call it a Blimp."
"Aye aye sir, what a wonderful invention!"
Indeed it was, Riko thought. They might have a steam boat and a wonderful little explosion weapon, but they don't have air transportation. I will!
