Mortumlovia is on the northern section of the coast. It is ruled with an iron first by the tyrant, Queen Morlena. She has a passion for ruling the world for an eternity, but because there is no magic to either prevent death or reverse it she understands that is impossible. However, word of a group of mad scientists attempting to combined reality magic, light magic, and dark magic with the logic of science to create immortality reaches her royal ear. She now allows the mad scientists to live in her city and experiment on traitors and those who have not paid taxes of course. Those who die in the experiments are cast into the salt marshes surrounding the southern edge of her kingdom. They say at the fullest moon during the highest tides you can see their bodies twisting in agony within the moonlight. Screams of pain erupt through the silence as well.
Mortumlovia is a port city, therefore receives export and import revenue that most of the city economies do not benefit from. This is because there are only two sea based ports that have so far kept up with the growth of industrialization. Having a sea port city means the city isn’t reliant on a good harvest alone, but it can trade with other neighboring cities not on the map, then export the goods to the other local cities.
However there are risks up the roads near the mountains of Mortumlovia. Wolves and bears are the mildest of threats. In the caves minors must be careful not to dig into a dragon’s den. The dragon’s cherish their treasures with all their might, and know that they are an endangered race soon to be extinct. There are also displacer beats, thin six legged panthers that have two tentacles on their backs making their prey easy to catch. Mostly they stay near the swamps, unless they hunt for the traders who travel in the safer roads through the woods.
The city gets benefits from the gem and coal mines near by, as well as lumber from the forest that seem to only grow so thick in the mountains. Swamps are created from run off in certain valleys, and many rice farmers make plenty for the cruel city.
The trade travelers have one final risk however. It is not death, though it will surely await them when they return to Mortumlovia, but a trio of bandits lead by a kitsune Robyn Hood. They steal from the travelers leading from Mortumlovia, and only to give it to villages and farmers who are harmed by the Queen Morlena. Morlena hates will all her heart the wolf girl Robyn, and has a price for the archer worthy of a prince.
Morlena plans to conquer all the other cities in the region one day. She has located weaknesses in the cities Skyrita, Lakora, and Harborion Port. However, she has yet to even locate the final city Brektonya, a city located deep within the mountains. Secret construction of underground roads to each of the other cities and their strongholds has begun by Morlena already, and though no act of war has yet to begin, nor any threat heard by the other cities, she does plan to invade.
They are all blissfully unaware except Brektonya of course.
